Sterlite Power bags orders worth Rs 3,800 crore from April to December – FY 2023

Sterlite Power has secured orders worth around Rs 3,800 crore for its solutions business across domestic and international markets during the first three quarters of FY23.

In a release, Sterlite Power said that these orders falling under the company’s “Solutions” business have been won in both the domestic and international markets. In value terms, these are 90 per cent higher than the comparable level in FY22.

The order entails uprating of existing power transmission lines for 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV of Power Grid Corporation (PGCIL), Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation (MePTCL) and West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company (WBSETCL). The strategic orders include the supply of extra high voltage (EHV) cables to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MSETCL) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RVPN).

Product Business

Further, the company will supply and install optical ground wire (OPGW) to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPNL) towards fiberisation of the state’s existing transmission network for 66 kV, 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV. As part of its products vertical, the company has received orders for conductors and OPGW from large customers in India, America, SAARC, and MEA region for major green energy transmission projects in India and overseas.

Current projects under Sterlite portfolio include six transmission projects under development including the recent contract for inter-state transmission system projects in J&K as well as in north-eastern states for integrating green power to the national grid. The company is also building its largest green energy transmission corridor in Gujarat to meet India’s renewable energy target of installing 500 GW.

Mumbai Urja Marg, Goa Tamnar Transmission Project, and Udupi Kasargod Transmission are other ongoing projects.

Business Structure

As part of the Solutions business unit, Sterlite Power manufactures and sells a diversified portfolio of products, covering high performance conductors, OPGW and EHV insulated power cables, to domestic as well as international customers, including central and state electricity transmission companies, power transmission infra developers and transmission EPC contractors. Further, its Master System Integrator (MSI) sub-unit is a provider of specialty contracting services, delivering bespoke solutions for the upgrade, uprate and fiberization of brownfield transmission infrastructure projects. In addition, the company also offers underground EHV turnkey services including cable laying and substation development.

Infrastructure Business

Under its infrastructure business unit in which the company has six transmission projects under development including recently won inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects in J&K as well as northeast India which will play a pivotal role in connecting clean and green power to the national grid.
